I am currently working on my third book, with a working title ‘Transformed by the Shadow’. This book is written for a general audience, and describes how ordinary everyday people experience their first total solar eclipse and how it the experience impacts upon them.
I did the research for this book while I was in North Queensland in 2012. I interviewed so many people, both before and after the eclipse – and it was such a wonderful experience to be able to share such a life changing experience with so many people.
Having sorted through hundreds of hours of material, I have now identified eight individuals to focus on. These people are able to describe the eclipse experience in good detail, and also can describe how the experience has influenced their thinking about their life. For many, it confirmed something that they had already discovered about themselves. For others, it was an opportunity to take a new direction or focus in life.
What I can say – the eclipse experience appears to be universally about feeling a connection. A feeling of being a part of something bigger. Of selecting a path in life that is true to a person’s values.
There is a lot of work to this project. Due to other demands, the project has been difficult to complete. However, I hope to have this book self published and ready by early 2017 so that it can be launched across the US in the lead up to the next total solar eclipse.
